Astrology is, on the most basic level, a study of time and timing–from the cosmic scale to that of a human lifespan, down to the minute-by-minute shifts that make up each day. Or to put it as Egyptians and Greeks 1,700 years ago did, “As above, so below.” This class will cover the primary timing tool of astrology, that of planetary transits. Building upon participants’ foundational knowledge of the astrological planets and houses, lessons will cover the influence of each planet as it acts upon the “below” of the natal planets, the impact of each planet as it traverses the houses of the natal chart, and how to decode an ephemeris (in five minutes or less!) to pinpoint the dates of past and upcoming transits. In addition to the “facts” and tools, participants will also come away with ongoing practices to identify the feel and mood of different transiting planets as they impact your life. Moon transit tracking, in particular, is an easy daily practice that you’ll leave the class ready to apply in order to continue your learning. Ultimately, dedicated students will be able to use this tool to find a personal, embodied language to understand the lessons, opportunities, and spiritual-material process of each planet in its transits. Participants will also receive a list of recommendations for pro-astrology apps, books, and podcasts they can use to continue their learning. Note: Each participant will be working with their own natal chart. Those without exact birth time records should, if born in a U.S. hospital, contact the state they were born in to request their “longform birth certificate,” which is the special format that has the birth time. (Those without a recorded birth time will use an alternate natal chart form that will still allow them to track transits through the houses.)
